GCU Student Free consultation

GCU runs eight-week courses with two discussion questions every topic. Here is what that costs you in a week.

Cheap tuition and a fixed weekly rhythm is a genuinely good deal for the right nurse, and a grind for the wrong one. The difference is not motivation. It is how many hours you have on a Thursday night.

We are not GCU's enrolment team, and nobody here is paid when you enrol.
We work with nurses across seventeen online programmes, so we can afford to tell you when GCU is the wrong one.
Every page here names who GCU is wrong for. That is the whole point of the site.

A week at GCU, drawn out

One topic, and everything it asks of you inside seven days. Set it to one course or two and watch what changes.

The topic is the unit, not the semester

It opens, you read, you post, you reply, you submit, it closes. There is no quiet fortnight to catch up in, because the calendar does not flex around your roster.

Two discussion questions, every topic

DQ 1 and DQ 2, each wanting an initial post plus substantive replies. That is six graded posts in a week before you have written the assignment.

The honest planning question

Not whether you can do this, but whether you can do it in the worst week of the month — three twelve-hour shifts back to back, with a topic closing on the Sunday.

Capella is the exact inverse

FlexPath carries no discussion posts at all. If you could not work out what really separates the two schools, this is it.

GCU nursing courses run on an eight-week calendar and carry two discussion questions per topic, each expecting an initial post and substantive replies to classmates. Day placement is the common pattern rather than a universal rule, and hours are a working estimate rather than a promise. Check the syllabus for your own course before you plan around it.

Yes, it is a Christian university. No, you do not have to be a Christian.

This is the question nurses ask quietly and almost nobody answers straight, because the material online is either GCU's own marketing or somebody's grievance. Here is the school's own wording, and then what it means in practice.

“This is not to suggest that all students are required to personally embrace the Christian worldview. You are free to do so, of course, but you are also free to embrace other views.”
Grand Canyon University, on its Christian identity — alongside a statement that it “renounces all forms of coercion and compulsion”

What is actually true

GCU is openly Christ-centred and says so first, not in the small print. The worldview runs through the general education curriculum rather than sitting in one optional module, so you will meet it in your writing and your ethics work, not only in a theology class.

What that means for you

Nurses of every faith and none complete GCU programmes every year. You will be asked to engage with a Christian ethical frame in some assignments. Engaging with it is not the same as professing it, and GCU says so itself.

When it is a genuine reason to look elsewhere

If writing inside that frame would grate on you every week for two years, that is a real cost and worth taking seriously. It is a matter of fit rather than quality, and we will say so plainly on a call rather than talk you into it.

On price, GCU is not playing games

Most of this network exists to find the catch in a school's pricing. Here there is less of one than usual, and saying so is part of being worth listening to.

The per-credit figure is GCU's published rate for the online RN-to-BSN and moves by programme, so confirm the rate for the specific programme you are offered. The tuition freeze GCU advertises applies to its campus tuition; online rates are set separately. Figures checked August 2026 and subject to change — verify anything you intend to rely on with the university directly.

Five questions, and we will tell you when the answer is no

Seventeen online programmes run through this practice, and our side of the ledger reads the same whichever one you land on. Nothing here depends on the answer being GCU, which is the only reason it can be a straight one.

Free, once, and we will tell you to stay where you are if that is the right call.

    • What your existing credits are worth hereUsually the single largest number in the whole decision.
    • Whether the Christian frame is a fit or a frictionAn honest conversation, with no interest in the outcome either way.
    • Which of the seventeen suits you betterNamed plainly, including when that is not GCU.
